  2. I’m not one to comment generally – I really enjoy the podcast and have always relied upon VPK for knitting help. But I am going to comment on your selection for your book club – the Audible version is read with racist intonations for some characters. Some voice characterizations are so stereotypical they move beyond offensive. I admit I didn’t finish the audio and did not pick up a book to read it to completion – the tropes were too much. It’s unfortunate that Audible (or the publisher) allowed the reader to be so free in her depiction of characters.
    This is my opinion and I’m sure others will disagree – the positive reviews rarely mention the casual racism.
